Every time I tell one of my lecturers about my direction for this year they all point me in the same direction, and that direction is Lucy Orta.
I can’t believe I hadn’t stumbled across her work previously, she is such a cool chick, like seriously, I think I love her.
Garments that can be used by urban dwellers, the homeless and the just plain cold.
She talks about garments that are also temporary shelters that can provide protection in emergency situations as well as giving those who use them a small amount of dignity.
These also explore the idea of the urban nomad, needing no permanent structure to call home, allowing for pure freedom of will and exploration.
Like I said, One cool chick!
